Holy is the Lord
This is a video that illustrates a song by Andrew Peterson called "Holy is the Lord." This song describes the story of Abraham sacrificing Isaac, and is one of Brad and I's favorite songs. Brad found this video and watched/listened to it over and over again as inspiration for him while he wrote his most recent paper, which was, in part, about this powerful story in Genesis 22.

I was in tears as I watched this. Caden was on my lap watching it with me and it really hit home. I couldn't imagine having to sacrifice my own son. The love we have for our children is SO great, and it was surely the same for Abraham. But God was the Lord of his life and ultimately he sought to please Him. Wow- what a powerful video. Thanks, Kristin.

A very moving video! Derek Webber always has amazing lyrics to his songs too!! :) Yes, our Lord desires our whole heart but its essence is idolatrous. He requires the intentional sacrifice of anything we cherish, be it the work of our hands, the labor of our hearts (for children or otherwise), or the sweat of our soul. He wants us to offer up what we love in the same way it was given to us...in love. Thanks for the reminder, Krit. I need it daily as I lay my "Isaacs," and myself, on the altar.
Just me again. You mentioned the song was by Andrew Peterson. It sounds like Derek Webber to me, but I must be mistaken. Oops! :) Your post reminded me of a sermon I listened to online about 2 weeks ago that fits well with this song. It's called "The Purpose of Trials" by John MacArthur, and I thought I'd pass along the Grace To You link in case you were interested.
