A Sentimental Post

Here is December during bath time. (She likes to drink bath water)

She's being silly here

Here she is looking at herself in the shiny mirror-like thing in the tub (she really likes mirrors, as you know!)

Here is a sparkly clean little girl!

Sometimes, during the middle of a mundane, normal day, you get little moments that are so sweet -- you get little blessings. I love December all of the time, but sometimes she does things that are so precious that it feels like my heart is filling up very full, to the point of bursting. It's similar to the feeling you get when you are falling in love...only it's different, because it's your child, your baby, the one who is a part of you and holds your heart in their tiny little hands. I guess that must be what my Mom meant when she always told me, "You'll never know just how much I love you until you have your own little child one day."

We had finished dinner last night when we were about to close in prayer. We told December, "It's time to pray now...fold your hands." She looked up at Brad, then clasped her small hands together and pressed them against her forehead. She bowed her head and slid her eyelids tighly shut. She kept them that way for most of the prayer, and after Brad said, "Amen," she said sweetly, "Eeee-uhh...Nnnn-uh!" Those baby words may not mean much to most people, but those are the ones that caused my heart to get so full. She was saying, "Jesus...Amen." In 3 John, the apostle writes, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth" (1:4). I can't describe how wonderful it was to hear her say those words. Both Brad and I were just so happy. It's those special times when you realize just how much you love your child...and I've discovered that what Mom told me was very right.

"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”
~ Elizabeth Stone

The truly amazing thing is that the Lord loves His children beyond any love we can experience down here below. Motherhood is just a small taste. I'm so thankful He has given you the blessing! It's fun watching December grow!
