A Gopher at the Park

Today December and I went to the park with the seminary wives and babies we've gotten to know. A gopher wanted to play with the kids, too! He was making tunnels at the edge of the sand and was completely unafraid of people.

Samuel and December were the most interested in the little rodent -- they were getting within a few feet of him (they probably could've pet him, but we were worried about the probable diseases this critter carried...not to mention his unnerving yellow gopher fangs)

Here is the little gopher; he looked like a hamster with buck teeth

Here are the seminary wives and some of the kids.

Yesterday morning, we had a minor explosion on our deck. December and I had walked to the store to get some milk, cheese, and fruit. When we arrived home, I brought the milk up to the porch and looked for a level place to set it while I brought up the rest of the groceries. December was already up there, playing around with some stuffed animals and random toys she thinks should live on the porch. I found a level place to set the milk -- on the grill. So I went back down and grabbed the few remaining bags. When I got back upstairs, December had just finished pushing a gallon of milk off the grill. It exploded. AHHHH! (that was my first reaction) There was milk spattered all over our deck and flowing down onto the deck below us. December was milkified, too. What a mess! I got a bucket of water and started dumping it on our deck, but that just caused all of milky water to splash down onto our neighbors' deck. I didn't want to do that to them, so I just got cloths and tried to mop everything up the best I could. I took a bucket of hot water down to spray off the cement and their deck. I don't know if they were home or not, but if they were, I'm sure they were annoyed by those terrible people who live upstairs! I know I wouldn't be too pleased if it suddently started raining milk! Poor people. The day got better after the explosion, thankfully.
